Depression affects the whole function of the person.

Physically:  tiredness, reduced sexual interest, physical pain, increased or reduced sleep and appetite.

Emotionally:  numb, irritable, agitated, tearful, feelings of worthlessness or excessive guilt, feeling hopeless or helpless, excessive worry about the future.

Cognitively: fixated on past failures, confused, unable to make decisions, low concentration and motivation, suicidal thoughts or thoughts of death.

Depression can occur after recent or long term life events such as relationship breakdowns, loss of a job or a loved one, illness.  Women may experience depression as a result of menopause, pregnancy or birth of a child.

Depression is treatable. Individual therapy will assist you to understand and better manage your symptoms and other problems that may be related to depression such as anxiety and stress.  Psychological intervention for depression will target your emotional, physical and cognitive symptoms to help you gradually getting back on track with your life.
